Monsoon Season

Maycee-such a ham!
Here comes the strom
Do you think Cannon wants down?!
Waiting for the rain-Cannon walking!

Can you tell she loves having her picture taken?!

Every July in Arizona we get these crazy monsoons. The sky gets black, dust blows everywhere and we get very needed rain. TONS of frogs come from somewhere and every night you hear what sounds like millions of ducks quacking!!It gets really humid from all the rain and it reminds me of Ohio. I sure don't miss the humidity. I will take 115 dry heat, any day! Yesterday the kids had a blast playing in the rain. We went straight to the bath afterwards but they a good time getting wet. Even Cannon was walking around-yes, we officially have a walker! He is getting too big.

For the LOVE of green food coloring

Oh blessed week in the Budge household! Easton has stopped sucking his thumb!!YEAH! Nate's buddy told us that when his little brother was small his parents put food coloring on his thumbs while he was sleeping and it make him stop sucking his thumb. We decided to tell Easton that if he kept sucking his thumb it was going to turn green and fall off. We have tried everything to get him to stop-duck tape, nasty tasting nail stuff called"Thumb, and of course bribery! Easton has been telling us for the last little while, "I will stop sucking my thumb when it turns green!" So late one night Nate and I dipped Easton's thumb in green food coloring. The next morning we were still laying in bed and we hear the water running . Easton was desperately trying to scrub off the green food coloring. Nate playing dumb asked Easton what he was doing. Big tears flowing down his checks, "My thumb turned green dad." We both felt so bad and wondered what we had done. But it worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He has not sucked it for nine days! We are SO proud of him. He told us the other night, "I feel so good. I feel like I did before I started sucking my thumb." Easton we knew you could do it-way to go Buddy! So for all you parents with thumb suckers go buy yourself some food coloring.

American Idol

The Goates, The Higgins, Karolyn and The Budges

Nate and I went to the American Idol Concert with some of our friends. We had a good time rocking with the old grandmas! We were laughing at the interesting crowd-alot of older fans, tons of 8-10 year olds and then us!! We got yelled at for talking to loud from the lady in front of us, "Ladies can you please keep it down!" Come on we are at a rock concert not the orchestra...TOO funny! We all got a good laugh and had fun being together.

I'm a new aunt

My sister had her fifth baby-Katelyn Emily! It so happened that she was born while we were still up in Utah so we were able to meet her on our drive back home. She is adorable!! SOOO sweet! Big sister Breanne can not get enough of her. She is very helpful and has become quite the little mother. Now Maycee has been asking for a little sister, I just tell her not tonight! We are so thankful Katelyn has arrived and is absolutely perfect!

Timpview Class Reunion

Where has the time gone! I just got from my High School 10 year Reunion. Oh what fun!I can't believe it has been 10 years. I am starting to feel old even though I still feel like I'm 18. We really had such a great time being together. We wanted to spend every minute we had with each other so we had a BBQ, boated, had breakfast at Melissa's and stay up late talking! What a Blast. Just like old times! Friday night we had dinner at the school(in the cafeteria in our "semi-formal"wear!!) and then Saturday we went to a park and everyone brought their kids. It was so good to see everyone. I thought everyone looked so good and it was so awesome to see everyone as parents and see their kids. Fight on you Thunderbirds! GOTIMPVIEW!

Farmington Half Marathon

Kristin Budge and I ran the Farmington 1/2 marathon. Kristin was running it and I figured we were up in Utah so I might as well join the fun!(I don't know what I was thinking). It was a good preparation for the St. George Marathon that I am training for in October. When I was finished I thought about running 13 more miles and it made me want to hurl! I might have to be rolled across the finish line in October. Nate brought the kids down to cheer me on. It made me SO happy to see my little family at the end. Thanks Kristin for getting my big booty out there to run!

No place like home!

We just got back from Utah. We had tons of fun being with family but there is no place like home! It feels good to be back after a long twelve hour drive home. I kept telling Nate I feel like a new woman with him behind the wheel! I would much rather throw fruit snacks and books back to the kids than drive! We packed alot in while up there-Timpview class reunion, playing with cousins, ran a 1/2 marathon, met our new baby niece-Katelyn Emily, went boating, saw friends and enjoyed the cool nights of Utah.

Happy Birthday America! We had a different fourth this year being we spent it in Page,AZ. Nate, bless his heart was talked into driving with me half way to Utah so I wouldn't have to drive it all alone. I love you Nate! We left after work on the third and spend the night in a hotel. The next day we hit the town parade where the kids got thrown used stuff animals from the Salvation Army(we still have them, after we tried to throw them away and everyone bursted into tears!), fake mustaches and tons of candy. After the parade we went to the town's one and only park where the kids got their faces painted(Easton got a basketball and Maycee wanted a rainbow), watched Native American dancing and participated in gunny sac races! What a memorable Fourth of July! We were glad to be together. We said goodbye to Nate and he drove south and we drove north. We will be counting down the days till Nate flies to Utah( one week)!! We are grateful to live in a free country and are so thankful for all the soldiers fighting for our freedom. God Bless America! Happy 4th!

Whetten Reunion

We just got back from our family reunion in Las Vegas. We had so much fun being together for four days. Sweet Shauna nine months pregers hosted the shin-dig at her house. The cousins literally played all day, went swimming, made the cutest picture books of our weekend, went to Tuachan(sp?) to see Cinderella, went down to the strip, went to the Temple and played games. Too fun!!!! We are so grateful for such a great family.
